Art is my voice to tell stories that have remained hidden, to turn silence into color.
My artistic approach is a continuous exploration of the human condition, centered on themes of resilience and silent narratives. I bridge the gap between classical realism and contemporary expression, using my work as a medium to amplify voices that have been historically marginalized.
By transitioning between the raw, monochromatic intensity of charcoal and the rich, layered textures of oil paint, I capture the duality of struggle and hope. My focus remains on the emotive power of the human form, aiming to transform personal stories of resistance into a universal language of freedom and empathy.
My name is Maryam Gomizi, and my artistic name is Mary G. My journey in the world of art began in Iran, the cradle of art, culture, and a rich civilization. Like every other woman in my land, I have experienced and lived through years of restrictions against women. For me, art has become a tool to make the voice of Iranian women heard, who for years have been crying out for their right to freedom, but their voice has not been heard.
I have always tried, pe;hperhaps an be a worthy representative of my land. Behind each of my works lies passion, hard work, and hope. As an artist, I have learned that art is not only an expression of emotions, but also a tool for those in society who were neither heard nor seen. In my works, you will find a world that often reflects the voices less heard. My works—from intricate and detailed portraits to fluid movements—are more than just a technique; they display stories that have often remained hidden. I invite you not only to look at my art but also to feel the emotions it evokes. Thank you for being with me on this journey.
I use various materials, from oil to charcoal, to bring these stories to life.
